S.S. Britannia


The S.S. Britannia was one of many variant ships to share the name. The vessel was built in Glasgow August 1879 for the British by D & W Henderson. Her maiden voyage was from Glasgow to Liverpool to Bombay September of 1879. Between 1892 and 1904 she was primarily used on the Indian service routes. Between 1892 and 1897 she made 10 round trips between the Mediterranean and New York and made two similar voyages in 1901 with the last being in May. It was scrapped in Bombay in 1908.
