S.S. Canopic


The S.S. Canopic was built for the Dominion Line in May of 1900 by Harland & Wolff, Belfast under the original name S.S. Commonwealth. She sailed from Liverpool on her maiden voyage to Boston on October 4th,1900. In 1903, she went to the White Star Line when they took over Dominion Line's Boston and Mediterranean services and renamed her S.S. Canopic. In 1904, she resumed the Liverpool - Boston service. Through 1925, she sailed many services between Italy and Boston, Italy and New York, back to Liverpool and Boston, Liverpool and Quebec, Bremen to New York, and Liverppol and Philadelphia. She started her final voyage on March 20th,1925 when she left Liverpool for Halifax and Portland and in October of that year was scrapped at Briton Ferry, Wales.
