S.S. Hannover


The S.S. Hannover was manufactured by Caird & Company, Greenock for North Germany Lloyd of Bremen and was launched July 28th 1869. The iron constructed vessel was first contracted for the companies New Orleans service. Her first Bremen to New York sailing service began on May 19th 1870. In late 1870, the ship was laid up in New York until October of 1879. She made her last Bremen to New York sailing on July 15th 1880. Between 1880-1881 she was re-engined and commenced her last North Atlantic sailing on October 12th, 1881 when the ship left Bremen for Baltimore. The Hannover was then transferred to the South America service until January of 1894. The vessel was scrapped in Italy later that year.
