S.S. Konig Albert


The S.S. Konig Albert was built by A.G. Vulcan in 1899 for North German Lloyd. She was launched on June 24th 1899 and celebrated her maiden voyage from Hamburg to the Far East. On April 16th, she went to the Genoa, Naples, New York service and stayed on that route until 1914. During the Great War, she took shelter in Italy but was seized by Italy in March 1915. At this time, the ship was renamed Ferdinando Palasciano and was mostly used as a hospital ship. In 1920, the vessel was transferred to the Navigazione Generale Italiana line continued the Genoa, Naples, New York service. In 1922, she was renamed Italia and was mostly used as a exhibition ship. In 1926, the Konig Albert was scrapped in Italy.

Domenica Polidori (Born: 1884) came to America on this ship from the port of Napoli in 1913 to be reunited with her husband Angelo Molinari (Born: 1883) in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania.
