The S.S. Malaren was built in 1872 by Dobie and Company for Loven & Company in Stockholm. From 1875-1887, the ship was owned by Svenska Lloyd A/B in Göteborg. In 1887, ownership was transferred to Lübeck-Wyburger Dampfschifffahrts Gesellschaft in Lübeck and renamed S.S. Imatra. In 1915, ownership was tranferred toHamburg-Danzig Linie Gmbh in Danzig and renamed S.S. Alster. January 16th, 1916 it was wrecked by a mine.
