The S.S. Principe Di Piemonte was launched January 20th, 1907 by Sir James Laing & Sons, Sunderland for Lloyd Sabaudo, Turin. She started her maiden voyage on June 19th, 1907 when she left Genoa for Naples, Palermo and New York and December 12th, 1913 made her last voyage along this route. In 1914, she was sold to Uranium Line and renamed S.S. Principello. She made her first voyage under her new name on February 14th, 1914 first voyage from Rotterdam to Halifax and New York. In 1916, she was sold again to the Cunard Line and renamed S.S. Folia. On March 11th, 1917 she was torpedoed and sunk by U.53 four miles from Youghal, Ireland.

Their final destination was St. Paul, Minnesota to stay with Angelo’s brother Francesco. Angelo was detained upon arrival before being permitted. The immigration inspector suspected he was drunk.
