In 1886, the Fairfield and Company Limited in Glasgow built the Trave for North German Lloyd. The launch took place on February 18th, 1886 and traveled from Bremen to New York on her maiden voyage June 5th, 1886. In 1901, she was transferred to the Genoa, Naples, New York service route which she ran until 1903. Between 1903 and 1906 she was laid up until March of 1906 when she returned to the Bremen to New York sailings. In 1909, she was sold and scrapped.
