S.S. Frankfurt


Built by J.C. Tecklenborg, Geestemunde, the S.S. Frankfurt was launched for North German Lloyd of Bremen on 17th of December 1899. She left for Bremen for Baltimore on March 31st, 1900 on her maiden voyage. The vessel remained traveling from Bremen to the United States throughout most of its ship life. In 1913, she was laid up during the outbreak of the Great War. The ship was surrendered by Britain in 1919 and sold to Hong Kong in 1922 with a new name of the S.S. Sarvistan. In 1931, the ship was scrapped in Japan.

Maria Maschio (Born: 1885) along with her children Elisabeth and Sylvester and her sister Angela Maschio (Born: 1888) along with her children Maria and Angela traveled to America aboard this ship in 1909 to reunite with their husbands who had settled in Springfield, IL the year prior.
