Marienhagen, Germany

Marienhagen is a sub-community within the municipality of Vohl in the Waldeck-Frankenberg District in Hesse, Germany. It is also the second largest town within Vohl with a current approximate population of 850 citizens. One of the town's biggest highlights is the Evangelical Church that was built in the 1300's with it's location being in the heart of Marienhagen. Unfortunately, Marienhagen is a small enough area that there is not a lot of information online on their history.

Many members of the Kuethe family were born in Marienhagen and the surrounding towns of Vohl. The eldest Kuethe ancestor in my tree, my 7x Great Grandfather Johann Hermann, passed away in Marienhagen in 1785. His first born son, Johann Wilhelm Kuethe, was born in Marienhagen in Jan 1860. I have not been able to prove it just yet, but I do believe that the Goebels are also from this same part of Germany. Stay Tuned!
