The Helmkamp Family Reunion Papers

The Helmkamp families were big on family reunions and there used to be an annual Helmkamp reunion at some predetermined location. After every reunion, there would be a reunion newsletter that was sent out to all of the Helmkamp families to help keep everyone in the know.

A few years ago, my Grandfather Rich Helmkamp came back to visit from his home in Pennsylvania and with him were several totes of pictures for me to digitize. One of the totes contained several years of family reunion newsletters. I read each one thoroughly to obtain as much family history information as possible. One of these newsletter mentioned a "Helmkamp Family Book" that was available but there were limited copies. After asking around, I learned that my Cousin Sue Ellen Helmkamp-Rayborn still had a copy of this book. We met up with, and I was able to obtain a copy of it. (Thank You, Sue!!). Below is a digized copy of the 37-page "Helmkamp Family Book".

I am also pleased to say that my research and findings not only confirms what is listed in the family book, but also surpasses it. One of the three brothers that is mentioned on the first page that moved to Holland who's name is not known has been found and so has most of his descendants. His name was Gerhard Wilhelm Helmkamp (Born: 1807)
